Hi,
I have been interacting in some of the webmaster forums since a year. And after spending sometime got chance to add signature links over there. You can see in DP, Hedir’s links in my signature and also there are some more forums. But no idea whether this would be of helps to attract visitors coz I don’t have a website to test this. But I would like to know whether this really serve the any of the purpose related to your site.
I've been posting in a variety of forums for at least 4 years. Most of them allow a signature link. I was told long ago that I would get more traffic to my site from my sig links plus it would help my site in the search engines. I don't think this is true.
- I have never gotten contact from a person who followed my site link from a forum.
- My site stats don't seem to change with the addition or subtraction of either a sig link in a forum or a lack of posting in a forum.
I think it's wishful thinking.
Also, I think DP was going in a wrong direction a few months back in trying to convince people their sig links should be rented out. I have not seen anything in forums yet that supports the theory that sig links are valuable.

Yes it is true some members [also me] rent their sign for few money.
Generally speaking forum posting links doesnot help. Either they use a nofollow tag or they some how block it. Other a site would innumerous link back from 1000 of posting and will outrank any other site. I dont think it is
I think they help in order to draw traffic, especially if your page might actually be relevant to people who use the forum. I don't know if it makes a difference directly for seo but I know I've followed links from forums before, bookmarked some of them and may add some of those to my own links later so in the long run it probably helps. _________________ Devon Business Directory
I should also say that some of the links showing up in google for me do come from Hedir, as well as almost every other forum I belong to. I'd bet google takes forum links into account more than it pretends to. _________________ Contact Table Generator Email address munger

You can alway look at the page source and see if the sig link has the nofollow tagged on it - I checked this site and they're just good 'ol plain links!
